Margaret Ann Karnes, 73, died at 12:22 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

She was born Aug. 6, 1936, in Herrin, to John Gualdoni and Mae Cook Gualdoni.

She was a member of Rotary Club of West Frankfort, owned and operated Karnes Real Estate for 30 years along with her husband, Doug and was original founder and director of Southern Illinois Bank.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Doug Karnes.

Survivors include her sons, John and Aimee Karnes of West Frankfort and Jeff Karnes of West Frankfort; a daughter, Terri and Jim Barton of Benton; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth and Laura Barton.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to West Frankfort Library or Franklin County Animal Shelter and will be accepted at the funeral home.
