Gina Marie Colussi
10/8/1914 - 1/11/2010





Gina Marie Colussi, 95, of West Frankfort departed this life for her heavenly home at 3:19p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2010 with her loving family gathered around her.



Gina was born October 8, 1914 to Umberto and Lucrezia (Galli) Bonacorsi in Thurber, Texas.  She married Bernard Leroy Colussi on November 16, 1935 in the First Baptist Church parsonage in West Frankfort, Illinois.  They shared 57 years of marriage until Bernie's death April 4, 1993.



Gina was a retired retail clerk having worked for F.W. Woolworth, Co., Morgan's Children Shop, and the Rosalie Shop for many years in West Frankfort.



Gina was an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling with her husband during their retirement years.  She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and served in the nursery, was a Girl's Auxiliary leader, and worked in the clothing room at the church for many years.



Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, a sister, Cecilia Tresso, a brother, Armando Bonacorsi, and a grandson, Virgil R. Minton the 3rd.



Gina is survived by her daughter, Susie Colussi Minton, granddaughters, Keely (Jack) Gelso and Abbey Minton, great -grandsons, Cole Jackson Lee Gelso and "Poppi" Virgil Minton, Jr., a sister, Rena Monaghan, nieces, Sylvia (Dean) Tharp, Patricia (Danny) Wilson, and Nancy (Noel) Summers all of West Frankfort, a nephew, Rob (Judy) Tresso of Carmel, Indiana, and many great-nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Union Funeral Home with great-nephew, Charles R. Wilson officiating.  Interment will be in Denning Cemetery.  Friends of the Gina Colussi family many call from 9 to 11 prior to the funeral service.



Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Clothing Room or Hospice of Southern Illinois.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home.
