Dessie E. Skuta Nicholson, 81, died at 6:40p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Herrin Hospital.
She was born July 6, 1928 in Summerville, West Virginia, to Joseph and Ada (Dixon) Shelton.
Dessie was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Jo Skuta of West Frankfort, Illinois; sons, Charles and wife Rosemary Skuta of West Frankfort, Illinois and Randy Skuta of Anna, Illinois; sister, Edna Galloway of Plano, Illinois; grandchildren, Philip and wife Tracey Skuta; Kevin Skuta (Hollie); Kailee Jo Skuta; and Samuel Raymond Skuta; four great grandchildren, Samantha; Tabitha; Charles Joseph; and Alexandria.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles "Chink" Skuta; second husband, Kenneth Nicholson; parents; sisters, Clara Heinrich and Josie Absher; brothers, Jay Junior Shelton and Ernest Shelton.
Services will be at 11:00a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010, in Union Funeral Home, West Frankfort, Illinois with Pastor Ron Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11:00a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort, Illinois.
