Paul Eugene Garland, age 67, of West Frankfort, IL passed away at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was born August 28, 1942 in Marion, NC to Ed and Sue Mace Garland.

He was a member of the Elk's Lodge and VFW Post 5764 in West Frankfort, IL.

Gene is survived by his wife: Lola Garland of West Frankfort; daughters: Nita and Richard McCraw, Robin Garland, both of Julian, NC; son: Paul Jr. and Cherie Garland of West Frankfort; grandchildren: Rebecca and James Dunlop, Adam McCraw, Devyn Weiss; sisters: Ruby Allison, Mary and James Boone; Sisters-in-law, Susan and Richard Baudison; Sandra Hawkins; Peggy Green; Fay and Everett Reed; Betty and Bill Russell; Brothers-in-law: David and Lessie Green, Eddie and Linda Green, Bill and Donna Green, Gary and Karen Green; Step-children, Jack and Jolene Stanley; Jeff and Angie Stanley; Stacy Stanley; T.W. Stanley; nine step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; several close friends: Lonnie and Sue Pritchard, Bill and Betty Stanley, Vicky Todd, Brenda Gray, Linda Foster, Janis and Steve Morgan, Bob & Mona Colyer, Becky Abbott, Sisto and Penny Ferrari, Mary Smothers, Ed Wall and Meecha, Bruce and Angie Dunn, Richard York, Jennifer Weeks.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Barbara; and sister: Juanita Stone.

It was Gene's wish to be cremated, a memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in West Frankfort on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 6:30p.m. Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, IL is in charge of arrangements.
